Get me a star on the Walk of Fame- I’ve been nominated for another award!

Oh man, oh man, oh man. The people of the interwebs have been at it again and I’ve been nominated for yet another award! My thanks to Roy from Piece of Cerebrum for the nomination. If you’re a food blogger like me, you’ll want to check out their #WeeklyChallenge for #Foodbloggers. It’s a great idea to promote camaraderie in the community so check it out!
The Premio Dardos Award exists to acknowledge the values that every blogger shows in their effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values every day. These stamps were created with the intention of promoting fraternization between bloggers, a way of showing affection and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web. Plus, readers get the chance to discover new, interesting blogs. All in all, it’s a win-win situation. Ready? Let’s go.

Shiny.
Ooh, shiny.

The rules are :
☆ Thank the giver and link their blog to your post.

☆ Pass the award on to other bloggers of your choice and let them know that they have been nominated.

☆ Roy also decided to make this a little more challenging by adding a new caveat: Tell the readers three (fun) things about you. So let’s get that bit out of the way first:

Three Fun Things about Leisel from Skill Up Skillet:

  1. I have been proudly addicted to coffee since age 6.
  2. I am particularly inventive about roasting marshmallows for some reason. In high school I kept votive candles, matches, and a bag of marshmallows in my glove box just so I could light the candles on my trunk and roast marshmallows using a pencil as a roasting stick at my leisure. I did this quite a lot on cold winter mornings. Also I roasted marshmallows at the mouth of a wood fired kiln once. Extreme S’mores action!
  3. I don’t have the middle joint in my middle, ring, and pinky fingers on either hand. I don’t really notice, I suppose, but I once waited until the last day of high school to tell one of my art teachers. I still have no idea why she started punching me in the shoulder while yelling my name incredulously.

My (geeky, foodie) nominations :
¤ Michelle Anneliese– Michelle has started a second (geek) blog, Geek Chic!

¤ mckelodeon of Nerd-ily– I previously nominated her for the Liebster Award, but now that she’s changed her domain it can’t hurt to toss a second nomination her way, yeah?

¤ Nichole of CuppaGeek – We recently connected via Facebook and she’s pretty legit. She likes tea as much as I enjoy coffee.

¤ Yasmin from Geek Grubs – Yes, of course there are other geeky food blogs out there! Also we both have significant others named Anthony (though I refer to my Anthony as ‘Neo’ in this blog, fun facts.). That’s pretty entertaining, neh?

¤ Riz from Chocolates and Chai – Who deserves this award solely because they also follow the cooking anime Shokugeki no Soma (Food Wars). Their Chaliapin Steak looks prettier than mine. >_>

¤ Chris-Rachael from Kitchen Overlord – Besides being a geeky blogger, she does Doctor Who probably better than I ever will. Also she’s published some pretty awesome cookbooks. I personally own the first edition of Dining with The Doctor and highly recommend it (even though I haven’t been able to find it in months and have torn my house apart several times looking for it. Dammit.).

¤ Ally from My Kind of Pop Culture – Your source for all geeky pop culture-y things. Great content here, don’t miss out!

Congrats all on your nomination! If you choose to accept and write up a post of your own, shoot me the link and give me stuff to read.
A quick reminder: The poll is still open for September’s Featured Recipe. If you haven’t voted, why not hit that button up now? Best part is, it doesn’t affect your rights, taxes, or anything else tangible. Woo!

Also, you’ll notice Skill Up Skillet now has a social media page titled Social-ish Shenanigans. Mostly because I had a load of free time and decided to make social media buttons, but yeah. Let’s connect and stuff; I promise I’ll try not to suck at it! If you’re looking for an actual response, best hit me up here or here. I’m fairly good about saying words over these channels. And the Bloglovin’ button is up now on the right. It’s functional and handmade and LOVE ME, OKAY?

Finally, assuming there are no shipping delays, I’ll be making a Toad Bombe Cake this Thursday. Is that it? Probably that’s it. That’s a lot of info. Jeez.

Cheers,

Leisel

Remember, cooking IRL doesn’t have to be a Feat of Strength!
