A couple of weeks ago, Neo (the boyfriend) sent me a video link of someone sharing their recipe for crazy-simple microwave fudge. Just by watching the video I knew I had to make it. But how could I possibly make it into something which fit into the overall theme of the blog?
Think, think, think.
Much brainstorming later, it hit me. Dice! I will make fudge, and it will be dice, and it will be scrumptious, and it will be cute. Yes. This is happening. Because fudge. (One does not question a female with chocolate.)
The end result? It’s quick, relatively inexpensive, creamy, and SUPERRICH. The fudge itself requires all of five minutes and five ingredients. That’s it.
Gamers, gather your mats:

- 3 cups chocolate chips (I used dark chocolate; you can use any kind you fancy)
- 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
- 4 tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. salt
To make the dice you will also need:
- Candy Melts – Bright White
- Extra chocolate chips
- Bamboo skewers, or equivalent
Dump your chocolate chips into a large microwave safe bowl. Add to that your sweetened condensed milk:

And butter:

The recipe says to microwave this on 50% power for one minute and stir, using the heat of the bowl to melt everything together nicely. Yeah. That didn’t happen. I’m either completely clueless (it is possible…), or the power level button on my microwave does absolutely jack. I ended up microwaving it for one minute at full blast, which turned out to be just fine.
You’ll want to add the vanilla and salt at this point and give it another good stir:

Line an 8″ by 8″ pan with aluminum foil and grease it up. The original recipe used cooking spray; butter worked just fine for me. Make sure you pay extra attention to the corners, or bad things may happen. You’ve been warned.

Pop your fudge into the refrigerator to set for a couple of hours or so. You’ll want this fairly hard for the next parts.
Once set, turn the fudge out upside down on a cutting board and remove foil. If properly lubricated, this will slide right off. If not, well, I did warn you. Bwahahaha. Cut fudge into small-ish squares. Emphasize squares. Depending on your dexterity, your fudge might soften a bit here. Don’t try to be a hero: Pop fudge back into the fridge to harden up again.
Prep table part 2:

Dump the entire bag of Candy Melts into your dipping vessel. Initially I thought, oh, I won’t need all of this and used about a quarter of a bag. Nope, not gonna work. Use all of it. Melt your Candy Melts in the microwave per package instructions; stir through. I might’ve dipped my pinky into this, too. Meh.
Let your Candy Melts cool somewhat: your goal here is to maintain a fairly liquid consistency without melting the fudge. You will need to pop the melts back into the microwave once or twice while dipping, don’t worry. You’ve got this.
(Spoiler alert: As someone who has never used Candy Melts before, this is the part where I start thinking, “what could possibly go wrong?” at every possible turn.)
Skewer your fudge and dip. Minimize buildup and work on getting an even coat by turning your skewer as needed and lightly tapping the excess off using the rim of your dipping vessel:
Rinse and repeat. Endlessly, endlessly repeat:

Well, then. Because no one’s perfect, a light double dip once the covered fudge sets will do:

These will need to go back in the fridge to harden. Yes, again. I promise your patience will be worth the wait. Melt a few extra chocolate chips in the microwave and bust out your drawing skewer. Through trial and error I found that the pointy end is good for stirring up the chocolate; the flat end is good for the actual drawing. Grab your six-sided die for accuracy and go to town:

That’s it! You now have a lovely plate of dice fudge for your next tabletop night. I put these back in the fridge again to let the dots set up. These delicious little buggers are best served at room temperature for maximum creamy-ness.

Stay tuned for more! As always, suggestions are great! I’d love to hear what YOU think.
